DIGITAL PIONEERS LAUNCH NEW AFFORDABLE MASS FLOW CONTROLLER.

digital mass flow controllerSTEC, which introduced the first ever digital mass flow controller in 1990 and which has the largest share of the global MFC market, is launching a new, low-cost digital MFC in Europe this spring.

Called the SEC-V100D series, the compact solenoid MFC is designed to make the flexibility and accuracy of digital technology more widely available.

European sales manager Stuart Knight says the new product develops STEC's pioneering digital technology and streamlines it into an affordable and highly practical tool.

The new product has a solenoid-actuated flow control valve and a 16-bit CPU coupled with 16-bit A/D and 18-bit D/A converters. It is analogue compatible, allowing it to control gas flow rate from both digital and analogue signals.

It operates at a surface distance of 106mm for flow ranges between 10SCCM and 50 SLM. Calibration and adjustment is carried out digitally rather than by mechanical adjustment, significantly improving reliability.

Network functions allow multiple MFCs to be controlled from a single PC. The type of gas or flow rate can be switched after installation without touching the MFC, avoiding exposure to the atmosphere using a CF or FS value setting function. Other features include auto-zero, auto-close and fail-safe functions.
