Global equipment maker Horiba Group has strengthened its French operations with a new technical service centre in Gieres, Grenoble.
The office will
provide technical support and servicing for users of Horiba Group
semiconductor related products as well as developing new customers
within Southern Europes semiconductor, MEMS and display industries. Among major customers for Horiba Group products in Grenoble - which include the market leading STEC mass flow controllers - are ST Microelectronics.
"Grenoble is an important centre in the semiconductor, MEMS and display industries. Famous labs like CEA-Leti and Minatec are pioneering future process and we are committed to developing relationships and becoming part of the industry's continued success in this area." The Japanese-owned group now has 700 people in France with offices in Paris and St Genis Pouilly as well as subsidiaries ABX, blood cell counter manufacturer, in Montpellier and Jobin Yvon, manufacturer of optical and spectroscopic analysis devices, near Paris. Worldwide the group employs 3,600 people and has a turnover of more than 650 million US$, with 235 million US$ coming from Europe. They supply a complete range of equipment that supports every step of the manufacturing process, from initial analysis to final inspection. The range of inspection systems and wet process concentration monitors improve process yield, uptime and wafer quality and reduce consumable consumption. Recent market research showed that the STEC brand of mass flow controllers was the leading product range of its kind used by the semiconductor industry world-wide.
